This "sit-down local" was chartered in 1939, when the Anderson, Indiana plant was part of GM. Today, the 1,650 active members of Local 663 work at Guide Corp., making rear lighting systems for GM vehicles. The local's retiree membership is 3,200 strong.

This amalgamated local in Newton, IA represents 2,600 active and 1,400 retired members. Active members build Maytag washers and dryers; signs and other advertising items for the Vernon Company; and industrial and commercial equipment components at Thombert, Inc. Local 997 also represents employees at Progress Industries - an agency providing job training and other assistance to people with disabilities - and Capstone Center, a mental health and substance abuse treatment facility.
